Back Bay
Back Bay is most famous for its rows of Victorian brownstone homes and is considered one of the best preserved examples of 19th-century urban design in the United States. It proudly displays numerous architecturally significant buildings and cultural institutions such as the Boston Public Library. It is a fashionable shopping destination like Newbury and Boylston Streets, Prudential Center, and Copley Place malls, and home to some of Boston’s tallest office buildings like the Hynes Convention Center and 200 Clarendon Street. It sits along the bank of the Charles river which is renowned for its rowing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding and sailing as both recreation and competition.
